Fancy Bras for Fancy Nights Only
I am a woman who is willing to spend a considerable amount on a bra...I want comfort, support, wash-ability, durability, etc. It has been my experience that high-end bras are worth the extra money. HOWEVER, I recently purchased some bras from a famous lingerie store that I would definitely not invest my money in again.
They were advertised as "maximum coverage", which I like for everyday use, and they had an underwire, which I like for support. I have always worn this type of bra...nothing new. Six months ago I moved into a new home with a large yard that required landscaping. So I have been working away everyday digging, weeding, planting, etc. On the first warm day, as I was working I found I was constantly pulling at the sides of the bra, trying to adjust the underwires, which appeared to be twisting.
The synthetic fabric, which I like to purchase because it is more durable than cotton, began rubbing on my skin. The ends of the underwires began to shift and dig into my sides. In other words, I was miserable, and I was aware all day that I had on an uncomfortable bra. When I finished my yard work for the day, I went into the house for a shower, and was VERY relieved to get out of the bra. As I passed by the mirror on my way to the shower, I notice a large brown spot under my arm. I assumed it was some gardening dirt, and went to the mirror for a closer look. It was a HUGE BRUISE!!!!! I turned to the side....another matching HUGE BRUISE!!!!
Needless to say, the bras, which cost approximately fifty bucks apiece, had to go into the trash can. I ended up replacing them with some comfortable cotton bras at a less expensive store, and I am very pleased. From now on, I am saving the high end bras for dressing up only, and using the comfy cotton ones while I am working. And you know what? Expensive, it turns out, is not always better!
I purchased almost the identical comfy cotton bras from my favorite fancy store, and while they were comfortable, they weren't lined, and were almost twice the price as the cheaper store. So much for going for the name brand!
